We’ve seen exceptional results for the tourism sector this month, which is buoying industry optimism over the longer term. The AFL Gather round this last weekend saw all previous CBD hotel records broken, and positive flow-on into regions surrounding Adelaide. This comes on top of exciting news that the South Australian visitor economy has hit record-high value of $8.3 billion, exceeding the pre-COVID high eight months earlier than expected. With school holidays underway, LIV Golf this weekend, and Tasting Australia just around the corner, the good news is sure to keep coming.
These results demonstrate the importance of embracing strategic government investment into events to grow tourism in our state.
However, we also recognise that mixed in with these positive outcomes, there are still challenges being faced by industry. At TiCSA, we will continue to advocate on your behalf to ensure that those challenges remain front of mind for decision makers.
