2023 SATA Winners at Government House
The achievements of South Australia’s tourism businesses and individuals were honoured in March at a reception at Government House hosted by Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia, and Mr Rod Bunten.
The reception celebrated the category winners of the 2023 South Australia Tourism Awards, as well as the 10 medal winners at the Australian Tourism Awards.
Tourism Minister the Honourable Zoe Bettison MP, Shadow Minister for Tourism and Hospitality The Honourable Jing Lee, South Australian Tourism Commission Chief Executive Ms Emma Terry joined attendees in recognising the innovative individuals and businesses who are leading the charge in our state’s tourism industry.
The event provided an opportunity to showcase Government House as a platform for celebrating the best of South Australia while providing opportunities for networking, collaboration and dialogue, ultimately contributing to the advancement of tourism and other key industries.
Government House Adelaide has been the official residence of the Governor of South Australia since 1840 – making it one of the oldest continuously occupied premises in South Australia.
Through its preservation efforts and public engagement initiatives, Government House continues to play a vital role in preserving the state’s history and traditions, helping to promote South Australia as a destination of choice for visitors from around the world.
While Government House is primarily the residence of the Governor, and the official venue for state functions, members of the public can tour the house on Open Days, held twice a year. The next Open Day will be held on Sunday, 12 May from 10am to 2pm.
As part of the Governor and Mr Bunten’s aim to make Government House a place for all South Australians, the grounds of Government House are open on the first Friday of each month from September to May for ‘Lunch on the Lawns’.
Members of the public are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch, spread out a rug or unfold a camping chair and enjoy the surroundings, while listening to a community band or orchestra from noon to 2pm.
