WHAT ARE STAR RATINGS?

The Star Ratings Program forms part of the Quality Tourism Framework (QTF). QTF combines Tourism Accreditation, Star Ratings and the Australian Tourism Awards programs into a single pathway for business development. 

Star Ratings are an internationally recognised symbol for quality accommodation standards. They are used in more than 70 countries and reflect the cleanliness, quality and condition of guest facilities.

A rating is determined by more than 200 criteria that have been ranked by Australian travellers according to what is important to them.

They are awarded in six distinct categories: hotels, motels, serviced apartments, hosted accommodation, caravan-holiday parks and self catering.

If a property has a 1 Star Rating, you can be assured that the property has met the standards expected of a quality 1 Star property; if a property has a 5 Star Rating, it has met the standards expected of a quality 5 Star property.

The ‘star’ symbols are a licensed trademark and therefore can only be used by properties that have been licensed to use them. They are your safeguard against ‘self-ratings’ – properties who have assessed their own quality standards.

Star Rated properties in South Australia have access to the standards, guidelines and property reviews for the six distrinct categories.

WHAT IS THE COST?

TiCSA Members can add Stars Accreditation to their membership for an additional annual fee of $200 (excl. GST).

Properties are assessed every three years against comprehensive criteria. TiCSA undertakes these assessments in South Australia, where possible, together with tourism accreditation site visits.
