Tourism Industry Council SA (TiCSA) is set to lead the state’s tourism industry towards a successful and sustainable future with the 2023 South Australian Tourism Conference: ‘Tourism for good’ on Tuesday 30 May.
The South Australian Tourism Conference is the state’s leading annual professional development and networking event for the tourism industry and broader visitor economy. This year’s focus, ‘Tourism for good’, explores tourism’s sustainable future and the visitor economy’s role as a driver for positive change.
The program sees a line-up of industry leaders, experts and passionate change-makers who will inspire attendees to think differently about the role that tourism can play in creating a better world. Presenters will be exploring the power of regenerative tourism, becoming more inclusive and accessible, and proactively boosting staff wellbeing, among other topics.
Among the presenters is Hailey Brown, founder and CEO of the world’s first accessible audio tourism platform, Vacayit. Also taking the stage are Dr. Mark Siebentritt, director of Edge Impact; Dr. Scott Krebs, Head of HR & People Experience Consulting at Gallagher; and the CEO of the South Australian Tourism Commission, Emma Terry.
In addition to plenary presentations, the program incorporates engaging workshop sessions in social, environmental, and business development streams. Workshop topics include “Being Accessible,” “Community and Cultural Impact,” and “Sustainable Action.”
Minister for Tourism, Zoe Bettison said the South Australian Tourism Conference is one of the most important events on the state’s tourism calendar.
“As the state’s leading annual professional development and networking event, the South Australian Tourism Conference provides our state’s operators with the resources and connections need to develop their businesses and help attract more visitors to South Australia.”
“We have seen our industry hit record highs, with visitor expenditure last year not just recovering to its pre pandemic value but surpassing it to reach our state’s highest ever tourism spend of $8.3 billion. This is only set to grow thanks to our world-class operators who continually innovate to be leaders in the local, national and global tourism industry.”
Shaun de Bruyn, CEO of TiCSA, emphasised the importance of the Conference in supporting the development of the state’s tourism industry.
“The 2023 South Australian Tourism Conference is a highly anticipated event for our industry. It’s a great way to bring us together, especially this year as we focus on the powerful force of tourism for good.”
“We have the opportunity to shape the future of tourism, not only for South Australia but also as a global example. What we explore at the conference will help to create a tourism industry that benefits everyone involved.”
