Day 1 Program – Workshops & Masterclasses

Get set for a full day of insightful and practical masterclasses that will equip you with knowledge and skills to take immediately into your business. There are 12 workshops and two masterclasses to select from!  Choose to attend a 3-hour masterclass or two 1.5hour workshops in both the morning and afternoon sessions. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided.

Day 1 will be followed by our official welcome to the Conference in partnership with City of Holdfast Bay and Jetty Road Glenelg where we will announce the winners of the Hello SA Top Tourism Town Awards. Access to the Welcome Event is exclusively available to delegates who purchase either the Full Conference Package or Day 2 tickets.

Day 1 Speakers

Kristy Malapa

Industry Relations Manager, Tourism Australia

Joining Tourism Australia in 2017, Kristy acts as the primary link between tourism operators and Tourism Australia. With an extensive background in the youth travel sector, Kristy has previously held roles both domestically and internationally including the management of Hostelworld Group brands for the Oceania region.

Haydyn Bromley

Director, Bookabee Australia

Bookabee Australia is an Aboriginal owned and operated family business and was established in 2005 with a vision to become a leader in authentic cultural training and tourism products. Bookabee offers quality private Aboriginal tours in Adelaide, and on Country Cultural experiences on Adnyamathanha Country in the Flinders Ranges. Participants are engaged in a cultural immersion experience that encourages them to examine views and attitudes towards Aboriginal Australia in a safe non-judgmental and empowering learning environment.

Dianne Dredge

Director & Regenerative Tourism Lead, The Tourism CoLab

Dianne Dredge is a regenerative tourism practitioner, a creative systems thinker and community builder. In 2019 she founded the Tourism CoLab which has become a globally recognised innovation lighthouse and community of practice for regenerative tourism. She is an elected member of the International Academy for the Study of Tourism but finds her true sense of belonging working in regional and remote communities.

Tony Catt

Director, Catapult Wealth

With nearly 3 decades of experience in the finance industry, Tony has seen many changes in the markets. Tony has a background in accounting, research, stockbroking and financial planning which allows him to provide a broad range of advice to his clients on different stages of their life. Tony has significant experience in lecturing and seminars, providing help to Regional Skill Training (RST), the Australian Shareholders Association (ASA), regional TAFE, WoTL, Farm Owners Academy (FOA) and the ASX investor hours for over 2 decades.

After marrying into a farming family, Tony decided to provide more help to family businesses in South Australia. Succession planning, retirement planning, education of the next generation and protection of wealth are major issues that have been identified.

Meet Simone Douglas – an ambitious, passionate, and wildly successful entrepreneur. Sarah Bruns is a passionate Environmental Services Officer at KESAB with a background in hotel management and conservation.
She enjoys working with varied stakeholders, embracing collaboration to achieve tailored positive outcomes.
She has worked with multiple vendors, suppliers and producers planning and delivering sustainable events, as well as businesses working to reduce their environmental impact whilst improving their service offering. She is keen to explore how triple bottom line benefits can be embraced in busy organisations.

Melissa Kalan

Dave Atherton

Dave Atherton is the Lead Principal of Key Tourism Solutions and the Regional Manager for ATEC in SA, NT and North QLD focused on international trade distribution. Dave has worked in government, tourism and as a buyer/wholesaler overseas and selling Australian tourism product into the international markets. Dave brings over 35 years’ of knowledge and experience in international trade distribution including business development, trade engagement, rates and contracting, commissions, relationship management and key stakeholder engagement.

Kate Chalk

After 20 years working for Flight Centre, which included roles as the SA State Manager and their Australian National Manager, Kate has a deep understanding of the travel industry. With diverse leadership experience and retail knowledge, as well as working on the sidelines as a coach and facilitator, Kate understands what it takes to run a successful team and business. Elisha Kendrick

With over a decade of marketing experience across agency, the private sector and now the SATC, Elisha has spent the last 5 years using her knack for digital user experience and consumer behaviour to inspire travellers to explore the world and especially, her own back yard.

Reece Corbett-Wilkins

Reece is well regarded for his ability to advise boards and other senior members in the executive, legal, IT, risk management and public relations functions to navigate Australia’s complex cyber landscape. Reece and the wider team have helped thousands of entities respond to incidents, including some of Australia’s most prominent and industry-wide cyber events in recent times, and several supply-chain attacks and multi-party-data-breaches. Reece regularly contributes to law reform initiatives and was previously invited to a roundtable discussion with the Australian Government and Cyber Security leaders in advance of the release of Australia’s 2023 Cyber Security Strategy Discussion Paper, which has inspired a number of topics at this conference.
