How do I become Quality Tourism Accredited?

The Quality & Sustainable Tourism Accreditation program is available for free to all TiCSA members. Learn more about the different types of TiCSA membership and the additional benefits and opportunities you will receive here.

To sign up for the Quality & Sustainable Tourism Accreditation program, visit the Quality Tourism Australia portal and follow the prompts to register as a new user.

After registering, our Quality Tourism Framework team will contact you and assist you through the program with one-on-one support, professional partner referrals and guidance.

Once the program has been completed, the business will undergo annual online renewals and three-yearly verification meetings to ensure the Quality & Sustainable Tourism Accreditation standards continue to be met.

Meet the standard

Quality & Sustainable Tourism Accreditation certifies tourism businesses that meet specific quality assurance criteria ensuring they are committed to exceeding consumer expectations with great customer service and the highest standards of business practice. Accreditation also incorporates sustainability across environmental, cultural, social and commercial business practices.  

To be accredited, businesses must will demonstrate the following best practice minimum industry standards:  

Licences & Permits

Ensures the business has all the required licences and permits. 

Economic Sustainability and Financial Systems 

Ensures business complies with accounting standards with up-to-date record keeping and complies with consumer laws. 

Human Resource Management 

Ensure management complies with legislation relating to employing staff along with comprehensive ongoing training and skill development. 

Customer Service 

Business must have documented customer service procedures, booking and cancellation policies and customer feedback processes. 

Sustainable Tourism 

Business must demonstrate sound sustainability practices including but not limited to environmental management, social and cultural responsibility, sustainable business operation and sustainable tourism marketing and promotion.  

Business Operating Systems

Ensures business has detailed & proactive operating systems ie: maintenance, health and safety and cleaning schedules. 

Insurance Details 

Ensures the business has all required coverage inc. at least $10million in public liability insurance. 

Environmental Management 

Business must demonstrate a documented and practical commitment to sustainable environmental practices. 

Risk Management 

Business must demonstrate documentation and implementation of risk management plans, as well as emergency and evacuation procedures. 

Code of Practice 

Business must sign industry code of ethics. 

Quality & Sustainable Tourism Accreditation forms part of the Quality Tourism Framework (QTF). The QTF is a business pathway to support the continuous growth and development of Australian tourism businesses.
