Welcome to our latest newsletter, the TiCSA Tourism Snapshot, for March 2024.
The last several weeks have been very busy in the TiCSA office, with the delivery of a number of key industry events. This included a very successful Tourism Summit on February 22 and our International Women’s Day Leadership Luncheon in early March which centred on an insightful discussion about the positive impact of women’s leadership in tourism.
Last week, the winners of the 2023 South Australian Tourism Awards continued to build on their achievement as finalists in the highly competitive Qantas Australian Tourism Awards held in Darwin. I was thrilled to see 10 medals collected by South Australian operators, including gold medals by Adelaide Fringe in the Excellence in Accessible Tourism category and Beach Huts Middleton (4-4.5 Star Accommodation). Congratulations to all our finalists – you should be rightly proud of your commitment to delivering tourism business excellence.
Speaking of tourism business excellence, businesses that have achieved accreditation under the Quality Tourism Framework (QTF) are more likely to win a Tourism Awards medal. As part of our commitment to enabling business excellence we are making QTF niche modules free to Quality Tourism Accredited TiCSA members for a limited time. This includes Accessible Tourism, Eco Star, and the recently introduced Don’t Risk It accreditation module.
Early this month we rolled out the Activating Heritage Tourism Grant Program in partnership with the Department for Environment and Water (DEW) to support operators of heritage tourism to deliver high-quality visitor experiences. Grant application is now open and can be made through TiCSA’s online grant system.
