Welcome to our latest newsletter, the TiCSA Tourism Snapshot, for July 2023.
Autumn was an exceptional season for the South Australian tourism industry, with April marking the highest visitor spend ever recorded, and visitor expenditure reaching an impressive $9.4 billion in the 12 months to March 2023.
Following this busy time, I’ve been speaking with many members about current business conditions and the difficulty of navigating the ‘new normal’ in the wake of our COVID-19 rollercoaster. The reports I generally hear are that business is quiet, and forward bookings are slow. One thing is for certain, that the medium to long-term prospects for our industry are looking positive.
We were also pleased to have been joined by the Hon Andrea Michaels, Minister for Small and Family Business, at our latest Leadership Luncheon. We discussed the recently launched SA’s Small Business Strategy 2023-2030 and the factors that are currently impacting and posing challenges to small tourism businesses.
