Welcome to our latest newsletter, the TiCSA Tourism Snapshot, for May 2024.
We’re thrilled to announce the South Australian Tourism Awards nominations are now open until 17 June. The Tourism Awards provide a prestigious platform to showcase your hard work and dedication to tourism excellence. Winners will not only be acknowledged as one of the best in South Australia but also go on to represent our state at the national tourism awards in Adelaide in 2025.
The South Australian Tourism Conference is coming up in June. We return to a two-day format this year with insightful speakers from across the country and excellent workshops to support business and professional development. Read on for more information about our speaker line-up. Our conference does sell out – don’t miss your chance to secure your ticket.
Over the last month the TiCSA team has been busy delivering workshops, networking events and undertaking Quality Tourism site visits in several regions. It is great to hear that many have experienced a very strong April, off the back of Easter, school holidays, and the influx of visitors coming for Gather Round and LIVGolf. I especially enjoyed the opportunity to meet with operators on the Eyre Peninsula and in the Flinders Ranges as part of our new Tourism Round Up regional networking series. Stay tuned for more details about these events, including our upcoming Round Up in Mannum.
On Thursday 18 April, with Flinders University we co-hosted a Leadership Luncheon with Blair Boyer MP, Minister for Education, Training and Skills (CHECK) where we discussed the workforce challenges being felt by tourism businesses, especially attracting skilled, local talent to the industry. We will be continuing this conversation on behalf of industry and will update you further on progress.
If you are attending the Adelaide Employment & Careers Expo on 10 & 11 May, be sure to drop by our first ever tourism industry booth where we will be distributing our Careers in Tourism guide and promoting tourism as an exciting and hugely rewarding career choice.
Looking to the weeks ahead, we’ve got a packed calendar of networking events and workshops including in many regional locations. Please read on for further details and more news.
Warm regards,
Shaun de Bruyn
