Welcome to our latest newsletter, the TiCSA Tourism Snapshot, for July 2024.
As we come to the mid-point of the year it’s been great over the past few weeks getting out and connecting with members and local leaders across the state. On June 17-18 members of the TiCSA board and senior management team participated in the annual board famil. The group visited Port Pirie, Whyalla and Port Augusta, meeting with businesses and local government.
Last week we took our Tourism Round Up to Mannum and Lyrup. This informal networking event always yield rich conversation and we appreciate those that are able to take time out of their businesses to join us. Finally, on Tuesday we co-hosted a Leadership Luncheon with Adelaide Economic Development Agency, one of our valued partners. Our guest speakers, City of Adelaide Lord Mayor Jane Lomax-Smith and Alexandrina Council CEO Nigel Morris, shared local government perspectives on short stay accommodation, visitor servicing and infrastructure that supports successful tourism destinations.
The TiCSA team is currently diligently supporting entrants in this year’s tourism awards to complete their submissions. All entrants are to be commended on dedicating the time to participate in the awards. It is an awards program like no other and entering requires a true demonstration of commitment to tourism and business excellence.
As explored in our recent conference, confronting the impact of tourism on our planet while also harnessing the incredible potential of tourism to lead as an industry that delivers positive social, cultural, economic and environmental benefit, presents both challenging yet exciting opportunities. We are pleased to be launching a new Tourism Emissions Reductions program which has been specifically designed to support Quality Tourism Accredited businesses to calculate and take action to reduce emissions.
