Tourism Industry Council South Australia (TiCSA) today announced that Chief Executive Officer Shaun de Bruyn will step down from his role in the coming months, following ten years at the helm of the organisation.

TiCSA Chair Penny Gale said Shaun’s tenure had been defined by his unwavering commitment to members and the broader tourism industry.

“For ten years, Shaun has poured his heart and energy into TiCSA and the wider tourism industry,” Ms Gale said. “He has been the steady voice on tough days and the biggest champion on great ones, always practical, always available, and always guided by what’s best for operators on the ground.”

Under Mr de Bruyn’s leadership, TiCSA has:

  • Doubled its membership, bringing more operator voices to the table and strengthening the organisation’s collective impact.
  • Secured ongoing Government funding to deliver capability programs that lift business performance across South Australia.
  • Earned a trusted place in policy and advocacy, ensuring the real-world needs of tourism businesses inform decisions at all levels of Government.
  • Built a financially sustainable model, positioning TiCSA for long-term stability and growth.

“Thanks to Shaun’s leadership and dedication, TiCSA is in an incredibly strong position for its next chapter,” Ms Gale said. “With that strength behind us, Shaun believes the time is right, after a short break, to look for a new challenge. Our programs, advocacy and member services will continue as normal and TiCSA remains absolutely focused on supporting operators and championing the growth of South Australian tourism.”

The TiCSA Board has commenced the process to appoint a new CEO. A Board-appointed committee will oversee the recruitment, with the aim of having a new CEO in place by March. Mr de Bruyn will remain with TiCSA to support a smooth transition and provide a comprehensive handover to his successor.
