Reality bites

The 2023 September Quarter Tourism Barometer shows an overall improvement from the June Quarter Barometer, however it is clear the tourism industry is still struggling in the face of rapidly rising operating costs, labour shortages and interest rate rises.

These factors are complicated further by the impact of the cost of living crisis on consumers through lower levels of discretionary income (that fuels tourism).
