ROAD TO RECOVERY
South Australia is officially on the road to recovery with phase one of the COVID-19 restriction relaxation commencing today. This includes the easing of restrictions for regional travel, incorporating campgrounds and caravan parks, as well as limited numbers for outdoor dining at restaurants and cafes.
Friday’s announcement by Premier Steven Marshall is certainly a positive step, following an extremely challenging few months for tourism operators.
Many regional businesses have already started taking bookings for intrastate travel, which is a fantastic indication that people are eager to get out and explore their backyard.
There are obviously still huge challenges to resolve for sectors including tour, transport & outdoor adventure operators, hotels, restaurants & cafes and entertainment venues to enable these businesses to be financially sustainable. Premier Marshall is acutely aware of our industry’s needs and TiCSA will continue to advocate to ensure livelihoods are saved.
If you haven’t already done so, I strongly encourage you to download the COVIDSafe app. The more people who download this app, the sooner government restrictions will be lifted.
Lastly, Premier Marshall will be joining us via a video conference call on Friday afternoon to discuss the recovery roadmap and his priorities for the future. Further details will be shared later this week, please stay tuned.
