Tourism Industry Council SA (TiCSA) is searching for South Australia’s best tourism town, and they are calling on passionate tourists and locals to vote for their favourite town!
The SA Top Tourism Town Awards recognise towns that offer amazing visitor experiences and are committed to developing tourism in their region. As part of the Top Tourism Town Awards, the public can review each town’s entry and vote for their favourite. The entrant with the most votes will be awarded the coveted People’s Choice.
There are seven towns in the running this year across the Top, Small and Tiny Tourism Town categories:
- Aldinga
- Murray Bridge
- Port Pirie
- Renmark
- Victor Harbor
- Coober Pedy
- Port Broughton
“Our local towns showcase and connect people with the unique qualities and character of the South Australian visitor experience. The Top Tourism Town Awards are a great way for us to celebrate them,” Shaun de Bruyn, Chief Executive Officer of TiCSA, said.
“SA’s regions are an integral part of the tourism industry. Regional tourism generates almost $4 billion in visitor expenditure, with many benefits flowing on to the local community and economy.”
“Not only do the Top Tourism Town Awards allow us to recognise our towns, but it gives them the opportunity to further improve and develop their tourism marketing and visitor experiences.”
Mayor Dean Johnson, President of the Local Government Association sponsoring the Top Tourism Town, said local councils play a vital role in growing the visitor economy in regional towns.
“Every South Australian town has its own unique charm and character, and local councils are at the heart of it – investing millions of dollars each year to provide services and infrastructure that promotes tourism and visitation,” Mayor Johnson said.
“The Top Tourism Town Awards are a fantastic way for South Australians to highlight their favourite spots and remind people to explore their own backyard, support local businesses and experience everything our iconic regions have to offer.”
“I encourage everyone to jump online and vote for their favourite town – you’ll be supporting regional tourism and go into the running to win a $500 voucher at an SA Council Caravan Park.”
Andy Glen, Chair of the SA Visitor Information Centre Network says the Network is proud to partner with TiCSA to shine the light on South Australia’s incredible tourism towns.
“These Awards present a great occasion for our regional towns to promote their unique offerings. South Australians are the best critics when it comes to home-grown tourism, so we encourage all South Aussies to get involved and vote for their favourite town.”
